BMW goes perhaps working in a seven speed manual transmission June 11, 2012 at 5:11 am
Curious stamp, which is floating around the net. They say that this and some other are taken from the registration of patents and prove that BMW is working on shifting of seven speed relations with two variants: one with conventional clutch and the other with electromagnetic drive. What will be their fate? For the moment is not known, and the M6 seems not a candidate, but either way in Bavaria they seem concerned with the reduction of consumption.
Contrary to what happened with the seven gearbox of the Porsche 911/991, here the drawing leads us to assume that the movement to be describe with the lever will be something more strange and least expected that with the sports of Stuttgart. Not to mention uncomfortable directly, but ultimately will be a gesture which becomes a few times while driving, so that is not so poorly designed.
In fact, it is rumored that gearbox has been designed to accommodate up to eight relations. And how is it mounted the driver to avoid committing mistakes in shift gears? We understand about “errors” as “speed with which the car consumes more than we”. If the rumors are on track, the box incorporates a hydraulic module struggling against such forgetfulness varying the viscosity of the fluid containing and preventing that you between an incorrect March.
